With the price of airline tickets and gasoline skyrocketing to unheard-of heights, vacation plans to exotic destinations might be put on hold. Not to worry, right here in the Houston area is a place that can save the family vacation. The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center is just the place to take your family to enjoy all the amenities you could hope to find at an all-inclusive resort without having to travel far from home.

If it is a fun place for the family and there is something for everyone. Children and adults will enjoy The Forest Oasis Waterscape, a water playground with a double helix racing slide, waterfalls and underwater marine murals. There are even places to play water volleyball and basketball. Small children will enjoy Puffy’s Sprayground, a synchronized, computerized water experience of waterspouts and fountains. After a day of fun at the pool, the family can gather around the adjacent fire pit for some delicious S’mores and a family movie.

If golf is a priority, there are two championship golf courses to choose from: The Oaks and Panther Trail. The Oaks course is a par 72 that features large greens, generous fairways and huge bunkers. Play can begin from either the gold, blue or white tees; or, golfers can test their skills by playing more than 7,000 yards from the professional black tees. The Panther Trail, a par 70 course has a four-tee placement on each hole. The course fairways are lined with beautiful Texas wildflowers and water fountains. The 18th hole finishes on an island green. Tennis and other sports are available. The resort features 21 tennis courts (four are indoors) and a pro shop for all tennis needs. A fitness center is also available for strength training and cardiovascular workouts. For those who prefer to hike or bike there are nearly 140 miles of trails to explore. For real relaxation, one might try a spa treatment. The spa menu features nature-inspired body treatments and offers separate facilities for men and women, with saunas, eucalyptus steam rooms and whirlpool hot tubs.

The dining experience at the resort will be without equal. The signature dining room is The Glass, open for dinner Friday through Saturday, and on Sunday the restaurant is open only for Sunday brunch. Chef Pedro Clay has developed an outstanding array of American, Texan and Asian fusion cuisine. His brunch menu has been voted one of the best brunches in the Houston area by Citysearch. For more causal dining, The Woodlands Dining Room is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Royal Mile Grill, which over looks the golf course, is open every day for lunch and dinner. Accommodations at the resort include standard guest rooms with double or king beds, and suites. The rooms offer a variety of amenities including high-speed Internet access, luxurious bath products, hair dryers, in-room movies (purchase) and much more. The resort also boasts a conference center that is state-of-the-art in every conceivable manner. From a 13,430-square-foot grand ballroom to full-service business centers, The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center is the perfect site for all off-campus meetings.

For activities outside of the resort, their shuttle bus can take guests to The Woodlands Mall, a shopper’s paradise; the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, for the latest in entertainment; Main Street, for dining and more shopping; or for a leisure boat ride through The Woodlands Waterways. Adjacent to the waterway, a new attraction recently opened: The Woodlands Waterway Square. The one-acre square is designed in a European style with fountains choreographed to music and a stage for outdoor performances; the perfect setting for dining and relaxation on a summer evening.
